recap summer flights

I have a Transport Canada permit for my Phantom- looks to me like you broke at least three of the most basic rules (too high, too close to controlled airspace, not operating the UAV in a safe manner).

The video reminds me of one WorkSafe B.C. inspector who came to job sites and always asked to see recent pictures of the project. Then he'd point out all the infractions documented in the pictures.

Who should get a transport Canada license? Should I apply for one? Is it mandatory?
What are the benefits?
also, why would transport Canada give someone a license? Does it allow them to fly, like a ham radio license? Is it illegal to fly without one? Am I missing something?

No flights are allowed within 5 nautical miles of an airport. (9.4 km)

MAAC Safety notice 2013, Français, anglais : http://www.maac.ca/docs/2013/maac_safety_notice.pdf

The Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) in section 602.45, prohibited the operation of aircraft that constitutes or may constitute a danger to aviation safety model.

Sections 76 & 77 of the Criminal Code of Canada makes it clear that endangering aviation safety in any way is illegal and anyone
so doing “is guilty of a criminal offence and liable to imprisonment for life.”

I highly recommend to read and you subscribe in a club !

That's a great link!
Thanks for that info!
I hope others will read it as well

The regulations are a bit confusing- but if you in any way, shape or form operate your UAV for a commercial purpose, you must get a Transport Canada permit; here is the link to their site: http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/standards/general-recavi-brochures-uav-2270.htm

So it's a bit vague if you are purely a recreational flyer- which is kind of weird because I believe it is much more likely that a mischievous 14 year will do something dumb, rather than a 66 year old like me using a UAV to take pictures of job sites.
