Long story short... My Phantom 4 Pro fell out of the sky. Needless to say I need some repair work done.I live in central Pennsylvania. I'm looking for recommendations for the best repair shop that is trustworthy, knowledgeable and reasonable in price. I usually always fix things myself, but this is one area that I don't know enough about.

Why not send it to DJI. I don’t believe you will save much sending it elsewhere and have the piece of mind that it will work great again.

I have no problem with doing that, will they still work on it even though it's out of warranty you think?

Yes they will be more than happy to take your money. :)

It's all done very easily online at DJI Repair Request

Once you fill out the form, they will give you a shipping label. Pack it up, send it to California. Usually within two to five days of them having it, you will receive a quote for the repairs. If you want to proceed, you pay via PayPal and after the repair they will ship it back to you. If you don't want to proceed, you only pay the fee for the estimate and they will ship back as is. Usually I think that fee is around $65.

BTW, What happened and what is the degree of damage?

Thank you very much for the reply. Ok, so I was flying a few miles from my house, I live in Central PA in the mountains. I was taking some pictures of the sunset, and some short videos. At the moment I'm just a hobbyist, so I do this on a regular basis.Sunsets are kind of my thing. So anyway I think I was up around 300 feet or so but due to the fact that the valley opens up below me I was actually a little higher than that. everything is working fine, looking good battery was that like 70 percent and all the sudden it just fell out of the sky. Simple is that. I know it wasn't the battery falling out, I always check and double check and I always put a piece of duct tape on the outside just for extra insurance. I was only like .2 miles away. As it started the fall I looked on my controller and it said aircraft disconnected. I didn't hit anything, there was almost no wind. It just fell out of the sky, I don't understand it. I also have a phantom 3 Pro. Never had anything like this happen before. I didn't hook it up to the computer or anything yet to look at the flight record, I'm not even sure if I would know how to and never done it before. I'm not very computer savvy. I mean I know the basics but other than that that's about it. I know enough to download my videos and pictures and edit them somewhat that's about as far as my computer knowledge goes. At a quick glance it doesn't look that bad. Obviously I broke some propellers. No big deal. There's several cracks on the bird itself, the arms going out to the propeller has a large crack and where the battery goes and it's also cracked. At the bottom of the one motor it's bent, landing gear broke. Surprisingly it looks like the Gimbal and camera look okay. I mean obviously there's something wrong with the electronics inside or something like that for just to fall out of the sky like that. let me know if I did it right for you to view the pictures.

Sorry, now I see that it added a bunch of the same pictures. But you get an idea I guess.

What kind of damages did it have?
After I crashed I got a new drone. Then a friend said a couple of months later, "send it in. Nothing to loose!" I was wrecked worse than yours! 3 arms broken off, legs broken and camera completely torn off! I got on the DJI site, got the info and sent it in. I received a quote and I thought that bill can't be right. I sent the money, 5 days later the new drone showed up (serial # was different than the one I sent in).

Did it have an R on the serial?

I sent it in, they should be receiving it today. I'm very hopeful.

My phantom 4 pro did the same as yours. I had it 1 week. I was taking pics at 308 ft everything was working fine then it just fell. Broke the landing gear and knock the gimbal out of wack. DJI replaced it for free.

I send my birds to these guys in NYC:

Originally called STC Electronics, they’ve been authorized DJI serve & sales since the first DJI products came out.
Excellent service. And they will actually repair and Service YOUR drone, not just send you a refurb belonging to someone else...

I’ve had my P3p’s and P4P repaired there several times from major to minor crashes.

I sent it to California out to DJI. They fixed everything and send it back at no charge. But the first time I flew it I had ultrasonic sensor errors come up. So I recalibrated everything thinking that was going to be an easy quick fix. And then I called and they told me to upgrade the firmware on the AC and RC to the latest ones. Well I did that now I have all kinds of issues the automatic exposure keeps going on and off the camera video feed is very lagging and pixely and just all screwed up the altitude is nowhere near right. So I don't know what to do.
