hello all I have the phantom 3 standard, I wanted to know does my controller have to be charged up if I'm not going to use it for sometime, or is it ok to not charge it until I am ready to fly my drone again, thanks for any advice,

The remote controller battery does not have to be fully charged when not in use. However, you shouldn't let the battery become completely depleted either.
Even If I don't fly for quite a while, I check all batteries each month. If you notice any of them, including the controller to be lower than say 20% or so, top them off to about 60% then repeat the monthly checks. I have gone several months without flying but those batteries need attention sometimes.
