P4 props onto a P3a? Possible or not?

Up and away today with my P3a. A friend remarked that he had never heard a flying chainsaw until he heard it.

I read somewhere that the props used on a P4 Pro v2 are 60 percent quieter. Is it in the reams of possibility to get them on to my P3a and how would you go about it.

No. The P4 series props are not compatible with P3 models since they don't screw on like P3 props.

Since the P4 v2 props might give longer flying time perhaps, and since they are quieter it is a win win situation for someone with the engineering skills and equipment to make an adaptor, so that P4 props could be fitted onto the P3 series.

You can go the other way - Ph3 props in Ph4:

For whether Ph4 motors can work with Ph3 - I wouldn't be so fast saying they're not compatible. If only they can be screwed to Ph3, they will work - electrically they are compatible.
Still, there are limited benefits in making such frankenstein phantom.

I wonder ...........

Flight time is based on :

Battery capacity
Thrust needed to lift body
Amps to power up motors to do thrust

Because weight of body does not change - the power needed as power to weight for any action has not changed - then it is unlikely any improvement in flight time. This is not like fixed wing plane which is flying by virtue of movement creating lift - this is a body that needs total lift from propeller output.

The only way you could increase flight time on a P3 / P4 etc. is by finding greater efficiency motors in converting power in to power out. I doubt if the motors to fit these P will have any real difference in efficiency.

I'm pretty sure the "increased flight time" is coming from the difference in architecture in the electronics as opposed to the actual props. This is exactly what DJI did with the Mavic Pro series. The Platinum came out with quieter props and improved architecture created a more efficient propulsion system giving a few more minutes of flight time and slightly quieter sounds.

Exactly as the props only translate power in to thrust out. With no change in model weight - that ratio remains same.

But if you change the flight controller and its reaction / correction nature / response - you can alter flight time but in reality its not a great deal.

I think the total flight time increase on the Platinum was something like +2-3 min. Not huge but a step in the right direction.

And oddly enough, the P4P V2 specs show no increase in flight time. Both the P4P and P4P V2 specs show a max flight time of 30 minutes.
