P2 and cold

I live in the midwest , The opinion on cold winters is varying but footage of the snow isn't. I've a P2NV/P2Z and the moment i put the battery into my P2 after the startup LEDs' it constantly blinks red. I've tried resetting the IMU but the only luck I had is to put the batteries in my jacket and wait for them to warm up. Even then , the LEDs' glow yellow and then go RED in less than 10 seconds. Is there a method others are approaching to deal with the cold?
