i got a p3s today and im super excited about it. i install dji go and firmware, calibrate everything, link up the rc and p3s. i try to start the motors by moving both joysticks horizontally inside down and it does not start. i tried moving the joysticks horizontally outward down and it still does not start. the only way i could get the motors to start is with the take off feature in the go app. is there something i am missing? please help!

Try holding the stick in the down and in position for a few seconds and trust me, reading the manual cover to cover will pay off.

sorry for not stating that i read the manual, i have now read it 4 times and i still do not see why my p3s does not start when i hold the joysticks horizontally down, either left or right. i also tried holding the left stick straight down as you suggested with no luck.

another issue i am having is that when the p3s is flying, when i move the left stick up, the p3s wobbles, goes up a few inches then very quickly descends. when i move the right stick to the left, the p3s again wobbles, tries to turn left but then turns right, the whole time my stick is firmly held to the left. the wobbling does not stop until i fly it in a straight line, but starts again when hovering or turning. this issue is very bad when in beginner mode, so bad it crashed while in auto take off mode, and manageable but still there when i switch it to enable multiple flight modes but leaving it in p mode with 20 meters set for both height distance and length distance limitations. everything else i left as is.

this is not my first time flying phantoms but is the first time i own one. i also own other smaller drones so i know how to fly them, this one however is confusing me.

i tried it both ways, just left stick and both and it does not start. i got it new, hopefully, from amazon. however some reviews of this vendor says that they were duped and got refurbished instead of new. everything was packaged nicely so i could not tell if it is refurbished.

i am updating firmware again at the moment and its making different beeps than yesterdays so maybe this is a good sign? i will recalibrate everything once this is done. however i forgot to mention that it didnt matter which rc mode i was in, the wobbles were there in mode 1, 2 and custom. custom got the best response in both beginner and p-gps modes but still did everything i described above.

This has nothing to do with the IMU. That is a flight attitude/motion measurement system.

Have you, Nohea, calibrated the R/C controller? The start requires full-deflection and if not cal-ed you may move the sticks 100% but it is not actually outputting/detecting 100% deflection.

It kinda does sound like a firmware imbalance...referring to your first post...do the sticks perform normally as you would expect once you get it up in the air with the tablet..and once you land does the left stick close the motors down when u lock the stick in the down position

I got it to work. the sticks were not calibrated properly. the first time i did it, i ran quickly through the motions and it did not register the full range of each stick. i redid the entire setup last night and now everything works perfectly! i even tried my fpv goggles for the first time today and took it for a spin. boy was that fun! thank you all for the troubleshooting help, i really appreciate it!
