Buddy of mine got a phantom 3 standard for father's day. What is the best firmware out there to put on it and controller if needed. Thanks in advance

You will get an answers that will not solve this !!
There are many like me who have latest FW and App with no trouble.
There are others out there who will not update FW / APP unless forced to.
There are others out there who have failed in update of FW.

I read the release notes of firmware. If there's something important, update, if not and/ or your device works just fine, don't. For me the important updates involved cold weather battery management.
