Need clarification with Litchi use on Phantom 3 standard

I understand that return to home will not automatically engage with a phantom 3 standard when using the litchi app when communication is lost. However, if litchi puts my Phantom 3 standard into a hover due to loss of communication, can I still successfully engage return to home myself by initiating it on the controller?

By definition, if communications are lost, you can't communicate with the bird! So no you can't RTH with lost comms.

Yes by definition but the Litchi app stopped on me while flying a P3S. I maintained complete control over the bird and brought her in for a safe landing. The Litchi program stopped but "communication" continued. I think there is a question in there somewhere.

RTH will automatically engage but on certain situations...

1) you are not doing waypoint missions

2) you set signal lost to RTH and NOT hover or land in the settings.
If you fly normal and lose contact it will automatically RTH (just as long as you out that on the settings)
