motors will not start

Hi all can anyone help me with my problem?
my dji goes through all the correct startup lights, but the motors will not start.
but if i pick the dji up and tilt it downwards and hold it in this position the motors will then start and i can place the drone on the ground then, it will start and stop the motors normaly after this. i have just fitted a new compass but still i have this, is this normal or is it a fault, only had this drone few days so not sure.

This seems like a fault with the drone. Plug the drone into the NAZA assistant software (http://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/nazam-v2/NAZAM_2.20_Installer.exe) and preform a factory reset. Once reset, make sure your Phantom and the controller are up-to-date with the latest firmware! Tell me if this helps
