Latest DJI Go not running on Ipad Mini 3 with P3P

I have used an Ipad Mini 3 with my P3P for the last year without issues. However I am now getting stuttering video with half of the screen missing, freezing frames, etc. on my Ipad Mini 3. The video from the controller HDMI port displays fine on a monitor. I changed a lot of settings etc. and I think the problem is that the Ipad Mini 3 just cannot keep up with the demands of the latest version of DJI GO. Anyone else having this problem? If I do need to get a faster tablet, can anyone recommend one (used is fine) which will definitely work with the latest DJI GO and will fit on the tablet holder on the controller?

My ipad mini 3 with current Djigo works great with P3P and P3S. I did not and will not update to latest firmware. The Dji go auto updated after an ios update to 11 which changed my auto update seting. The mini 3 works just as well as my ipad air 2 wich has the A8 processor.
