I have a clear line of sight all the way to the mountain peak; it's 1.7 miles.

But the gain in terrain elevation is 2063 feet. The house is at 7063 and the peak is at 9127.

Is it possible to fly a Phantom 3 uphill from the house to the peak? How about downhill?

I don't think the raw distance is the issue; the altitude gain is my concern.

Your Phantom can only fly 1,640 feet above the home point, so you won't be able to make it to the top.

So I could hike or drive to the top, and fly it back to the house?

There is no documented max negative altitude, so I'm assuming you could fly down from the top.
