Interesting places to fly outside North County San Diego?

Just moved to North County not too long ago. I'm looking for areas to fly (likely out East) that would make for some good (legal) shots. The only areas of interest seem to be entirely off-limits, either by airspace, nature preserves, national parks, or local restrictions. Any recommendations??
