Below is the content of an e-mail I received from The FAA regarding their upcoming webinar regarding Facilities Maps. The webinar will explain the maps and how to understand them. It will be a big help when you find yourself in controlled air space and how to get permission to fly. They touched base on them yesterday. For instance, the meaning of their color coding.

  • Blue indicating OK to fly at indicated altitude
  • Green indicating use LANNC to get permission and fly at indicated altitude and
  • Red indicating use Drone Zone to get permission and fly at indicated altitude

If possible, you should attend the webinars are a good way to understand the the new rules.

"How to Navigate UAS Facility Maps".

UAS Facility Maps show areas and altitudes in controlled airspace around airports where drone pilots can receive an authorization to fly below the maximum altitude depicted on the map and up to 400 feet.
Join us as our FAA's experts explain everything you need to know about UAS Facility Maps. We'll demonstrate how to access them through our data visualization tool.
