Has anyone tried any video glasses with the Vision 2 ?

I use a Samsung galaxy3 as a monitor for my vision 2.. It didn't take but half of a flight to realize they're almost impossible to view, while standing in the sun.. I've looked at numerous video glasses, which are easily adapted to the S3.. However... I'm concerned if I buy a set, it may not be able to work as a "monitor" (Ie: display what I see on my I-phone), but rather will only be able to open and watch downloaded pictures and videos which are stored on the I-Phone.. Has anyone tried any of these units? I realize there is the set for 800 bucks, but I don't want to buy anything that high tech.. All I'd want is to be able to see what's displayed on my I-phone, not watch Gone With the Wind.. Thanks
