Do I need both GS and iosd mini?

I'm thinking about purchasing the GS for some filming and I'm I right in thinking that GS, shows much of the same info that isod mini displays? eg battery, GPS strength, telemetry etc.

I'm wondering why I would need to purchase both of these bits of hardware, maybe someone could enlighten me.

The groundstation and iOSD are completely independent and neither one needs the other, though you are correct there is some data both will display. Many people find it's worth it to have both though, as you may not use the GS for all flights but use FPV far more often. Or vice-versa, but that way you'll still have visibility on the data regardless of which config you're going with.

I have the GS, but I rarely use it for checking telemetry data like you listed even when I'm using it for control, it just seems more efficient usually to read it on the video display.
