DJI no longer sells replacement batteries for the Phantom 4

The DJI Fly app is compatible with mobile devices running iOS 11.0 or higher and Android 6.0 or higher. It's designed for a simplified and intuitive user experience and is specifically used with newer DJI drones like the Mavic 3 series, Mini series, Air series, and Avata. While the older DJI Go app is compatible with devices running iOS 10.0 and Android 5.0 and above, the DJI Fly app focuses on newer hardware.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Operating System Requirements:
    • iOS: iOS 11.0 or later is required.
    • Android: Android 6.0 or later is required.
    • iOS: DJI recommends using an iPhone 11 or newer.
    • Android: DJI recommends using mainstream flagship phones released after 2019.
  • Note:
The DJI Fly app is not compatible with older DJI drones that use the DJI Go app.
The DJI Go 4 app is compatible with a range of DJI drones, including the Mavic series, Spark, Phantom 4 series, and Inspire 2. It requires Android 5.0 or later and iOS 9.0 or later. Specific compatible devices include various Samsung, Huawei, and other Android phones, as well as iPhones and iPads.

Compatibility Details:
  • Drones:
DJI Go 4 is primarily used with the Mavic series (Pro, 2, Air), Spark, Phantom 4 series (Advanced, Pro, Pro V2.0), and Inspire 2.
    • Android 5.0 or later.

    • iOS 9.0 or later.
Beside the app GO4 for phantom 4, can we use another app without having problems? I know some apps works depending the devices and also depending the operating systems.

Thank u for that in depth reply. I have read some of that before and checked my phone and iPad. Should be good to go. I cleared all my warnings and it started working again for a short time, then kicked me off again. It keeps saying I need to download firmware for precise location. And to connect drone via cable to something just had a diagram. And if I hit ignore, that's when it kicked me out about 3or4 minutes into operation. Any ideas??

Is the app requesting an update for the app,.......or the drone?

Sometimes app versions and drone firmware versions are mismatched and cause issues..........plus, if the cable from the device to the R/C isn't a very high quality data transfer cable it will cause issues.

Strange that it is saying to '....download firmware for a precise location......' and kicks you off. Have never seen that warning before.

Maybe delete the app and do a clean re-install.....?

The precise location, also shows to me and hit ignore, this is to update the restrictions areas like airports, landing zones, but don’t affect the flight. (in my case) because the restrictions countries are different. But if you are inside some restrictions areas, the drone gives warnings and sometimes doesn’t takeoff. If you have more restrictions areas updated, means less areas to flight. The update it’s by internet with the device connected. Because the update it’s for the app and the drone separate. And the names shows in the app DJO GO4: PRECISE FLY SAFE DATABASE (for Aircraft) and PRECISE FLY SAFE DATABASE (for app) and the last one BASIC FLY SAFE DATABASE. Maybe here it’s your problems, because you clear all warnings, works short time and issues again when collecting the warnings. Maybe you can use your drone without internet and don’t update the fly safe database. Or go to another location, out of the restrictions areas. Also you can check the restrictions areas with other app like UAV forecast to check if you are inside the restrictions areas.

@sansuciboy1 , which Phantom 4 model do you have? ie, Advanced, Pro, ProV2.0, or Phantom 4 RTK.......or the 'Standard'....?

....and I'd guess you are not in the US, right..?

** I need to research this compatibility issue a bit further, but need to know Drone model and your 'general' location, the US or across the big pond.....***

Thank u Captain thank u Carlos. All very good feedback I also am not a big fan of downloading firmware, if it's not broken don't fix it, as the sane goes. And I did Fly it with out the app. And it performed beautifully!! BUT I can't take videos or pictures, no flight log ect. All the things I love about the app. Where I live is kinda tricky I will try and snap shot my map later for post here. I Fly on left side of my apartment big parking lot. Message comes on Fly with caution, on the right side of my appt. Building about a hundred yards away there is an enhanced zone, and it message me Fly with extreme caution and I had to check box and tap OK. WELL BOYS AND GIRL'S as I'm typing this everything is starting to make a lot of sense LOL ... I'm going to fly with Android phone today instead of my iPad see what happens. I see now why it wants it to be precise makes sense. Thank u guys very much and I will update here later. Cheers

No fly zones and geofencing are issues here in the US also.

I'd maybe take a ride in the country, maybe a park or somewhere FAR from controlled airspace, and see what you get.

So, which P4 do you have so I can research it a bit more?

Yes sorry I have p4 standard I live in the US on the west coast OR. I was also thinking what would happen if I flew in ATTI mode what would happen?? Maybe I could still fly with satellite in back ground and not get warnings?? Also I noticed something odd yesterday it was showing two different locations on my map, the red dot showing my exact location was on my apartment and then another red symbol was showing a H for home at the place where I was flying a hundred yards farther away from the enhanced zone. Is that normal? Or is it conflicting? When I got the drone and did my first testing with no props on it I hit precise location in my appt. As my tablet is wifi only no phone feature. I thought maybe I could turn on my HOT SPOT on my phone and do it that way BUT the drone and controller are already communicating with tablet via wifi so might be a bad idea I'm thinking .

Yep, the two points at the same time (home and drone) are normal on the app.

You may get warnings even in ATTI mode, but try it anyway and see what happens. Those warnings should stop if you get far enough away from controlled and restricted airspace.

Check out the 'Aloft Air Control' app in the App Store. It's a free app that is FAA approved for LAANC flight. It will also show you any restricted or controlled airspace in your area.....including altitude limits if any.

No problem bud. We were ALL new at this stuff at one time.

My app flashes the warning to update the Fly Safe database also.....every time....but I just hit ignore and it goes away. I haven't updated my firmware since late 2016. Not sure why your app kicks you off if you ignore your warnings.....but I use DJIGo and not DJIGo4. (P3's)

Did you ever try deleting the app on one device, and then doing a clean reinstall and see if the issue remains?

When you get a chance, let me know which firmware version you are on, so I can research the release notes for known issues.

I'm on dji go 4 and I haven't reinstall the app yet like u suggested and haven't tried different locations like Carlos suggested I'm going slow process of eliminating easy to hard. Can I use dji go to fly p4's ???

No, you need to stay with The Go4 app for the P4's.
OK gotcha I'll thank u , I will erase and re-download app. Outside at flying spot and use hot spot to connect I think that's a good next step thanks. I was wondering if I wanted to contact u directly do I just tap on capmilehigh.

Yep. Just tap and it will bring up my profile. Then tap 'send direct message'.

I'm still thinking that in your flight area there are flight restrictions and no-fly zones that are giving you these warnings. The "Aloft Air Control" app I mentioned earlier (post #30) will show you.
