Hello everyone
I am a complete novice in flying drones (I literary got a Phantom 3 Standard as a birthday present last week).
My drone is still in its box. The reason for that is that when I tried to download the DJI GO App, I really got put off by the atrocious reviews about the latest updated App.

My questions are:

1) Is the DJI GO App really bad or should I download it and try to use it?

2) Can I use a third party App instead without using DHJ GO at all?

Thank you for your help.

Dario

I don't know if you are on iOS or Android. The iOS version seems fine on latest apple OS.

There are other apps, depending on what OS you have. I'd suggest learning the ropes on GO app first.

I am on iOS 10 with iPhone 6 and / or 7. Thank you

No. You must use DJI GO to register your Phantom, install the firmware, and setup some of the settings not offered by other 3rd party FPV apps.

Then buy Litchi :l

personally I have no issues nor have I with GO, this version or previous..

I use android 6.01 and Nvidia Shield K1 or
MOTO X 2015 pure edition cel(works great in sunlight)

My 2.5 years of Phantom (last one with P3pro) experience is rather boring...

No Compass issues
No flyaways
No gps issues
no gimbal issues
no etc......

It just works as it should when I ask it to
I almost never calibrate the compass...
I keep it ready in backseat with props on (have not been off since last spring)
I aways pay attention to battery levels and voltage.
just pay attention at all times and don't get complacent

I use it but don't let it use me....

Now get it out and start slow and easy in open area
don't use AUTO anything until you have a clue.....
good luck and have fun flying!
