DJI Go App Flight Sim - Aircraft Disconnected

I downloaded the DJI Go app hoping to try the flight sim before getting my P3. However, it seems to indicate that I need to have a connected aircraft to use the sim. How is this useful? Isn't the entire point of a flight sim to use it without an actual aircraft?
