I recently bought my Phantom 3 Standard, and I was wondering if once I connect my phone, is it automatically connected to the gps satellites, or do I have to do something manually?

Thank you, but whenever I want I fly my drone about 30 ft away from the start point and I attempt the return home, it just lands, does not fly to where it started. Am I doing something wrong? My first time flying, it did return home, but after that it would never return to the right spot.
If you initiate RTH within 20m of the home point, the Phantom will just land right where it is.
