Change gimbal and camera on p2v+?

Has anyone had any success swapping out the camera and gimbal on the p2v+? I've crashed mine twice now. First time I had to replace the shell, which I did successfully and it flew fine, until I clipped a tree and now the gimbal shakes violently and heats up so much it burns when you touch it.

I'm hoping to not dish out 700 bucks for a replacement kit from dji if there is another option.

I fear you are out of luck on that one. Plenty have asked but no-one has come up with an alternative yet.
Dronexpert solution has been advertised for a month or more but the product hasn't shown up anywhere yet.
