I now the phantom has to be level
but does it matter where you calibrate it Is in your home ok
or does stuff in the home interfere with the calibration

Im asking cuss it hard to find a level place out doors

I do it at my desk in the basement. Try to keep the drone as cool or cold as possible too. If you Calibrate at a temperature equal to or warmer than the ambient temp when you fly it will take longer to be able to start up.
If I have to recalibrate in the summer, I pull the battery and prop the bird close to the Air conditioner vent, and leave it there for 10 minutes or so. With the air blowing into the battery compartment. Then when you go to recalibrate you get everything ready in your settings and go before you touch the bird. When you’re all ready, power up the battery and hit the “start IMU calibration” as soon as the software allows.

It just needs to be done on a level surface where the Phantom won't be disturbed during the calibration process. It's not negatively affected by magnetic metal objects, etc.

And as @jephoto noted, the IMU won't finish initializing on startup until the aircraft temperature reaches the temperature at which it was last calibrated. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend calibrating the IMU outside when it's warm/hot.

You should start the calibration as soon as possible after starting the aircraft.

Take props of and follow the onscreen pictures,,,I do find last one interesting how it needs to be upside down,??purpose of that not sure,,mayby needs to know the right way up , strange, inverted flight ?? Na not yet
