Broken controller antenna P2

I’m just getting my son’s P2 up and running again after a few years of non use, but noticed the controller antenna is broken off at the joint. Is there an easy fix? I’m thinking get a new coax, but fit a fixed antenna? I’ve see there are range extenders, but I’m just going to be teaching myself to fly in the garden before making sure I am compliant with the law when I’m ready to do more.

Any advice gratefully received.
