The "storage mode" switch is designed to discharge or charge (depending on the current battery level) the battery until it reaches the storage level. As far as I know, it does not trickle charge the battery after that point.
It's most useful if you want to charge batteries up to the storage level after flying. I don't use that mode to discharge batteries. Instead, I let them auto discharge on their own.
