apparently...

except these three hospital staff members stated that i was on "private hospital property" so i don't think they will take kindly to me if i "notified" them that i was gonna fly there if did again at all lol

Well, do they mean your drone in the air? The air is regulated but by the FAA. We have to be lawyers to understand how to have fun with our drone hobby.

drones or cameras or camera drones lol cause they thought i was using my drone to "spy" indeed that was not my case at all this is the one and only photo i took that's it no video or nothin just this

I would have to ask the question of who or what was on the physical property. Not trying to argue, but I don't think anyone has found where the air is private. And flying over or past isn't the same as looking in windows. If you have some bonafide information concerning this, I would love to see it. Thanks.

Call the hospital and ask to speak to someone about drone regulations. Say you're doing an article for a newspaper or magazine and you want to know the rules/policies and where you can find them. Ask for people's names too. I'm sure no one would want to be named misquoted

you can't fly near hospitals? almost had the cops called on me.
i wasn't flying looking into Windows i was getting a picture of the construction that as going on of a new add on building but never the less it's against the law unless the hospital hires you to film.

While already visiting a local hospital yesterday, I asked the duty guard at the security office about their air ambulance landing pad. I wanted to know if they get advance notice when it's coming in. Yes, true. So I asked if I could take off from it, camera facing down and fly my drone off the H and get a short video of the area. And his answer was surprisingly, Yes, I may... It was a bit windy, and I wanted a real clear video, so I told him, that I would return on a much nicer & calm day. No problem. "I'll be back!"
I also fly regularly at a large community park only a few blocks from this same hospital location. ;-)

Good point. Talk to someone with authority and ask for their name. That way they won't just be talking off their cuff, hopefully. But, I'm not the one wanting to fly around or near a hospital, but I was hoping some people on this forum might have the information at hand and could share it with the rest of us. Great flying to ya!

Nope.. Doesn't look harmful to me and how that is a hippa issue cracks me up.

Interestingly the issue is about you... Not the aircraft in this instance. They do govern your behavior while on their property. Now go stand across the street and that's a different story. The heliport would be enough reason for me to stay clear.

It's probably has something to do with Obama Care, a lot of unknowns in the program. Just like Medicare Bills, are you being admitted or are you there for Observation. You get billed for Observation . Thanks for your information

Roman,

Well, we can all just vote for Bernie. I'm sure he'll square it away. (Feel free to substitute "Bernie" with Hillary, Donald or Ted. It's all the same at the end of the day.) This is not a free country anymore. We're taking the European path to socialism, it hasn't worked for them and work for us but sadly, that's where we're going. Innovation and risk, be damned! We all need to be equal.

Jerry

Dude, they're not going to look at each condition / details on a case by case basis. If they have a general policy against drones, they will ask every UAV operator without regard to how harmful your flying may have been.

The fact that they asked you before calling authorities, as has always happened with me so far, is a good sign that people are still willing to be reasonable, ask you to stop doing it without the fuss of calling in the men in black.

they thought i was spying on patients through windows because according to them (hospital staff members) they said a patient reported seeing a drone outside their window that flew by, which is funny because i wasn't any where near windows not even close... like i stated in my original post i took a pic of the construction that was going on

You obviously don't understand the new world order rules that apply to drones (anything that can fly) do you? "outside their window" really means "anywhere within sight", not actually right outside their window. Unfortunately, technically, the patient was correct. It was outside their window. Unless you were flying it inside their room that is. The trees, sky, birds, planes, cars, etc, AND your drone are all outside their window. Hysteria run amuck.

I was curious about this so just called my brother who is an administrator of a hospital. He said HIPAA laws prevent the public from knowing that you are in the hospital. Staff cannot verify that you are a patient, names never posted in public places, and no photography allowed, the only exception is in the birthing center where parents and family are free to take baby pictures. But he said that a camera drone would not be tolerated due to the potential for an invasion of privacy. He said they've had media do all sorts of strange things to try and get information on VIP patients.
Probably not an FAA law though huh?
