So I was just about to fly and I get this message that I need to update the Phantom and Controller Firmware, didn't even look at the versions since I just wanted to fly and deal with it when I'm done.
(I had done a successful update to 1.2.6 from 1.1.9 a few days before)

After I drained my first battery I went to the second and noticed that my gimbal setting had changed to FPV mode on its own...

I went to see this supposed firmware update, but there was no such thing.
After that I went to the About section in the APP and it said N/A where the firmware version number is supposed to be. (Still connected to the Phantom, no app crashes at all)
After resetting the application everything seems to be back to normal, and the firmware version shows as 1.2.6 in the About section.

I'm bummed I didn't record any of this weirdness...

I use the Nvidia Shield (latest android version available, downgraded Google play services to get usable FPV) and 1.2.0 Pilot App

On the current version, it seems to flash up the update required message while it is warming up but it goes away before ready to fly GPS.
It's a minor annoyance but won't affect your flying.
