It occurred to me that some of the FPV receiver antennas have pretty good gain.
Has anyone heard of using these on the Dji controllers instead of the common WiFi amplified panels?

Not sure what you mean by FPV antennas as there are numerous types which are used depending on the application.
But what I can say is that there are was to attain ‘gain’ in all types of antennas.
Each has it pros-cons.
But generally speaking gain is attained by shaping or directing the beam/energy.
In the extreme, some antennas radiate like a light bulb and others like a flashlight. Each has its pros-cons.
Higher gain antennas are more like flashlights than a bulb.

I'm well aware of the different types of antennas and beam patterns etc.
Typically people are aware of the large 2.4 Ghz panels used originally as wifi extenders.
Titan is a well known vendor of these type panels.
If you look at FPV goggles they use clover and patch antennas that have claimed gains of 14 dbi and better.
These antenna are considerably lighter and smaller than those ginormous slabs of plastic.
I was just curious if anyone has tried these smaller antennas when a range boost is desired.
