Anyone got any experiences with 3rd party batteries for P3P? Original ones seems to be expensive and you constantly need to buy new batteries. Are there any cheaper alternative available that produce same or better results?

My P3 batteries perform very well. Is your battery performance not acceptable?

It will be a while before we see aftermarket batteries. There is too much smarts built in the P3 range. The P3 checks each battery and makes sure the firmware matches the bird. Aftermarket battery companies need to make the firmware %100 compatible with all current and future firmware. In the P2 range, you could use the original battery to update firmware and swap it out and fly with aftermarket batteries.

DJI will it make it very hard for other manufacturers.

On a positive note, the P3 batteries are TRUE 4s cell batteries, unlike the "tricked" P2 3s celled batteries. The P2 used 2 small batteries to make 1 cell (3x2 parallel-series config). This caused unbalanced charging and caused the batteries to fail or autoland. You would get about 30-40 cycles before it puffed or died.

P2 had 3 months battery warranty and the P3 has 6 months. Fly hard and send back if you see faults.
