Is it worth getting the gimbal guard, black carbon blades and controller windsurf booster. I dont really want the booster for range but for better connection.

When I had my standard Phantom 2 I bought some extended height legs that I thought at the time were DJI items but turned out to be cheap plastic rubbish 
Call me a snob (no,please do ) but unless it is an "official" product or looks like it is of a decent quality AND adds something that I feel is missing from the original set-up then I don't bother with them.

If it's a P3S then the windsurfer is worth having, the other stuff, not needed.

This, the props that come with the phantom 3 is much stable than the ones made by a third party.
If you want more brittle props then go for it
The stock ones can bend and take a few chips and scuffs to the edges and are just about still usuable,you clip a carbon reinforced one just right and it will snap.
