What the heck is that thing??

I'm sure this has been asked before, but danged if I could find it. When I have the Go app open, and touch my finger to the screen, a ring with a point on one corner pops up. The letters exp show up there too.When I touch on it, though, nothing happens.

Is this an exposure setting? What is this thing and how can I use it?

If your camera is set to Auto Mode than exposure will be taken automatically from the place where you tap your screen.
Good example how to use it: To prevent overexposure tap on the sky.
