What is this mod? I get plenty of range from my phantom 3 standard and have no intention of doing it as I see the "bricked drone" forum topics. I live in the US so I'm not even sure it's necessary here.

The intent of the mod was to get FCC power output in CE regions. Your right, probably no use to you.

There is a software product out there called Magic Power. Pilots outside of the US will use it to get around the limits imposed on the wi-fi video signal.
