What can I teach you about DJI flight logs?

Would very much like to know how to download logs into a usable format to print out - or be able to import the data needed - for my Flight log book. So I don’t need to fill out by hand a log after every flight to satisfy FAA in case of an incident.
Without having to pay a monthly fee...

Also will be nice to be able to download the info needed for maintenance logs such as battery info.
Again to be able to choose the pertinent data I need for a given report- not a massive data dump of EVERYTHING the logs have to offer.

Thx for your offer. I’ll be interested in what you do.

Which data are you recording in your flight log book today?

I am not very knowledgeable of flight logs. This series could introduce me to this subject. I’m interested in it and I love to learn about them. It sounds like a great idea!!!

Don’t have it in front of me at moment - but basic stuff like:
Date, location, number of flights, duration, distance, which batteries used, Start and end voltage on each.
Not sure what else is needed off top of my head-to make FAA happy if they want to go over Flight records.
Of course there’s still info I’d need to fill in that’s not on the logs like Job names, preflight and post checklist items. But if I could import the tech stuff from the Flight logs that would make my life easier.

Also I could generate pages for many flights I never made on site logs for previously.
And create maintenance logs to spot problems before they get critical.

Jephoto, if I am not misunderstanding your question, are you asking if there is software that can scan the logs as they exist on the device and automatically select a 'line' from each log that would provide the information you seek? If so I seem to recollect that the "grep" command under Linux had the ability to scan multiple files looking for matches to a specified search pattern but it has been many years since I last used Linux and whether or not my recollection is correct and whether it could search in the possibly somewhat specialised log files I do not know.
If not and you are asking about logs that have been transferred to your computer and 'translated' by the likes of the logview here or DatCon could you not simply open the outputted CSV files and copy and paste relevant lines to a new CSV file?

I guess I’m asking how to go about taking the translated logs and pulling the relevant lines. A step by step if you will and suggestions of which data to pull for the FAA required flight logs.
Probably makes more sense to download the available logs, then create an import action to grab the info I want into a new customized Flight Logs.

What’s more user friendly to a non-programmer- DJI’s Logview or DatCon? And which is easier to export selected data from?

i am very interested in directional info e.g. what course heading is the drone traveling vs. what heading is the camera pointing. i have inspected flight logs and dat files but i just can't seem to find anything that correlates to the video and its corresponding srt file.

@msinger

Yes, I got a lot of great ideas. It'll certainly take some time to cover all of them.
