I've just used waypoint using litchi for the first time, it was only a short flight around my flying field just to see if I got it all correct, well I didn't, at turnpoint 6 I forgot to set the height to 350ft as I did with all the other points, I was very lucky as default was 98ft about the height of the tree and secondly it turned just before it hit the tree, lesson learned check all setting before flying, all's well that ends well.

another thing I notice with litchi "find my aircraft" yes it shows where it landed and stopped transmitting so easy to find the P3P but will this only work if you still have TX connection with the AC at the time of landing/crashing

this is the first short flight.

Did you set up using the HUB?.
It is very easy to scan through all your settings on your PC/laptop before you go out to your flying location.

no I don't use HUB I just do all setting on the Nivida Shield K1 tablet, click fpv then waypoint/settings then just use my stylus to mark each turn on the google map and set the height, finally after the last WP click RTH as last part of mission, then save, switch off tablet, go to field , set all up, take off up to a decent height then switch from P to F click start arrow then off it goes, as you say even the way I do it it is easy to check all setting but being a wally:confused: I forgot to do this, I'll certainly remember next time

Also, use RELATIVE TO GROUND when setting up your missions. This way all the altitudes get changed with one click to a height above ground that you set.

thanks for your input
I've just checked out RTG and will use that next time
cheers

That's something I never use. Relative to ground doesn't take into account anything above ground level like tress, buildings, etc... To me that seems a risky thing to do

Years ago I thought it might be practical to have the heights of trees displayed on aeronautical charts. Then, after I started flying quad-copters, I discovered there are just far too many trees for displaying on charts.

If there are serious tree issues near an airport, they are generally noted on the approach chart (or a general runway view for very small airports). Since we can't generally fly too close to airports anyway, this isn't much help!

When I plan and fly Litchi missions, I probably tend to err on the very high side of how tall the trees are! I'd rather be at 150 ft and miss the tree than fly at 90 feet and discover some trees. I remember being at the site of my old elementary school one day. I scouted the area and estimated the tallest tree was about 60 feet. When I watched the video, I discovered my phantom was flying directly toward a *very* tall palm tree. Couldn't believe I didn't see it during my pre-flight check. Fortunately, I had turned away from it. It stuck up head-and-shoulders above the rest of the trees!

I think I'll be using it when in Spain while flying in mountainous areas instead of guessing heights, plus giving it plenty of height in the first place

Nice video!

These dang drones! They'll do what you tell them to, or what you DON'T tell them to! :p

Nice peaceful background music... now off to an afternoon nap! :D
