Walkera TALI H500. What you think?

Can someone email them and ask if they have taken magnetic declination into account so it'll fly straight?

Never mind, I did it.

Sent this to: [email protected]. I'll post any responses here assuming they don't ask for discretion.

=====

Hi, I have a DJI Phantom 2 and it doesn't fly straight due to magnetic declination in GPS mode.

I'm considering a Tali H500 as my next aerial vehicle as a result.

Can you tell me if the Tali H500 will fly straight in areas of the world that have magnetic declination >0 or <0?

Also, I think it would be very helpful to attract current DJI customers if you had a Phantom comparison chart on you website. There is a LOT of interest in the Tali H500 due to the poor service and quality problems of the DJI Phantom.

Let me know if I can help :)

I think customer support from Walkera has already been established to be no better, or perhaps even worse than DJI. That was hilarious.

The real answer to your question is likely that any such issues can be resolved, if necessary, by the community on the H500 since it uses an APM based flight controller, which is opensource.

The more I follow news on this hex, the more I think it's just a sheep in wolf's clothing.

I do like it but would want to see a few people flying them without too many issues before I jumped in.

We need a UK stockist to come on here and say that lol

:D

For those who cares, it appears that Walkera has disabled access to the Mission Planner, the settings/waypoint/configuration utility to the Audrocopter based flight controller. There is an active thread about this on rcgroups now.

Pyro, the walkera store is now stocking the carbon edition, and it's even available in an RTF with the F12E but no camera and gimbal. Basically the deal of the century at $1300. You pay only $165 for the controller if you get the RTF version over the BNF version. http://www.walkera.com/en/goods.php?id=2616

Yes, I notched that earlier, $1306 without the iLook+ camera and 3D Gimbal

The extra for these would cost $593 I believe, to make $1899

What I do not understand is the iLook + as a separate item is $199
and the G-3D Gimbal is $169, this adds up to $368

Am I missing something ?

Thats exactly what I was thinking because until the GP4 comes out (and thats if it applicable to the platform) I will need a camera, so you are not saving over the RTF package and then we have import duty to go on top of that....it starts getting pricey

Import costs to the UK work out at £164.08

Based on $1306 for Tali 500
$64 for shipping DHL
$10 for insurance (it made me enter something on the calculator)

This should be £984.48

Add to this
G-3D from Ebay £123.74
iLook + from Ebay £119.00

Total cost £1227.22

The only UK price I have seen is £1699.99 at KoolToyz

Now the bad news, if you try to order at Walkera, the Black colour is out of stock unless you
order the full package :(

the time and effort to fit it all?? everything costs money.! maybe not 225 bucks though??!!

Cheers Dave, not sure I would ever trust buying something like that from ebay, just not that much of a risk taker, and I want a warranty support on anything I buy !

Yeah the black looks sexy but I am not one of these flyers who needs to go off into the distance or above the stratosphere, as I have a particular role I want it for which is well within visual range, so visibility will probably not be so important. Reading some of the issues around settings on RC groups has made me hold off a while until a fix has been implemented lol.
