Suggests that there is a second 'pot' (potentiometer screw) on the P2 transmitter controller that handles gains adjustment... might be worth (carefully) testing. In theory then it is a case of working out what channel it uses... suggestion might be that X2 always live to gains tuning and all you need to do is tap into it.
