VERY hard to view

Question(s):
Use a ipad mini 2 for viewing, or should I say, attempting to view my flights. What's the answer to clear viewing? The wrap around guard? Different settings? Thx!!!

If maxing out the screen brightness does not help, you could try a sun shade like one of these:

• Anbee
• DJI
• Hoodman
• Summitlink

@lowoctane, I found I had to eventually update to a brighter iPad (iPad Pro). That's an expensive option; less expensive things I've done which help are a sunshade like mentioned by @msinger, wearing a dark shirt, and trying to always stand in the shade. For shade, I have a portable beach umbrella. Bonus benefit of the umbrella is it keeps the blistering Texas sun off of me in the summer!
