How can we forget it when the NSA is reading all our emails and listening to all our phone calls?

I work in a company where we get a S'ton of telemetry data, and we can only really focus on the data that we are most interested in, and even then it is a huge amount of data to sort through. Even with crazy advanced algorithms your mundane phone calls and emails are likely nothing but noise in the system.
I mean, sure privacy is important and we all want it... I just think the angst over the possibility that someone in the NSA is actually listening to any one individuals conversations about the gas station being out of regular gasoline is pretty overblown.

Buckaye said:Ok... I see your point. I guess I just am not ready to take the leap that we're setting up a system that leads to genocide. However, in the truest sense you are of course right that it COULD happen.
I just think there are a lot of other more dangerous and offensive things going on in our government that are far more impactful to our way of life than this. I'd say I am merely focusing my special brand of paranoia on the problems that don't have a huge logistical barrier in front of them to make them a reality. The fact that our government can't choose a paint color without falling to pieces scarier to me than the possibility that they are truly capable of listening to my phone calls and emails.
When they read this thread... I'll just let their call go to voicemail.
