Unable to use my ipad with P4P

I bought an iPad mini 2 that I was wanting to use with my P4P (it is in the recommended list on here), but it doesn't ever connect to the controller. It always says disconnected on the home/startup screen and nothing is usable when I enter device. I tried 3 different cables that work with fine and connect the iPad to a computer so they are good. I have a Samsung Tab A that works great with the controller. Anyone have this issue or know how to get it to connect? The versions are:

iPad OS version 11.1.1
iPad app: 4.1.18

Samsung OS: 7.1.1

Samsung app version: 4.1.18
Aircraft: 01.02.0304 and says check for updates.
Remote controller: 01.03.00.00+
App Database: 01.00.01.07
Basic Fly Safe Database: 01.00.01.05

I always hear how great apple products are, but so far, they blow big time.

Here are a few things to try:

• Upgrade your OS to iOS 11.2
• Try a different Lightning cable if upgrading the OS does not resolve the issue

I upgraded to 11.2 and that appears to have fixed it. I didn't realize apple was so specific to certain versions.
