So I finally made the 3 hour all round trip to get my drone. So far only damage is the props and also rust on the screws by the sensors. Not sure if the sensors are ruined or not. Doesn't matter as I manually land and hand catch anyway. She was found upside down and since it was raining for around 14 hours straight she done OK. Lol. Haven't powered her on but she does seem dry. She got rescued Friday so do you think that's enough time to start her up? I checked the motors and its all copper inside and no burn marks so I am happy with that. And the irony... No stress cracks under the arms lol I did buy the staff wine and a crate of beers to say thanks and gave them a 5* review on trip advisor. Least I can do. Thought I would treat my parents and my daughter out for the day since we had to drive down the coast to get it. All in all not a bad day [emoji4]

Do you think its too soon to start it up or would 48 hours of it drying naturally be enough?

Don't turn on yet. Get some cheesecloth or thin fabric to wrap it in to keep stuff from getting inside. Put the whole bird in a big bag or box of Rice (uncooked[emoji2]) and seal it up for a few days. That should pull the moisture out.

After seeing this new thread, I searched for your thread in the general discussion section for some background on the incident. Lots of conflicting advice in that thread for next steps so I wont muddy the waters on that topic.

One thing that stood out to me is how the hotel employee tried to power it up as soon as they retrieved it after it was outside for many hours in so much rain. I would have thought that in this day and age everyone would already know to not do that first.

We are all pulling for you to be back in the air soon. :)

Woohoo. I couldn't wait... And she is fine. Haven't done a test flight but I did start it up and rev the motors and checked the camera. It all works as it should

I didn't put it in rice or anything. These things are tough. I will now charge up the other battery and see how that goes. Thank you guys for all your support [emoji4][emoji4]

She is a beauty. You better take better care of her. LAID OFF THE DRINKING AND FLYING or she might leave you for someone who will take better care of her, like me. Foreget that last statement. I haven't done so well myself. My bird, " songbird " is in a few pieces on the dresser. Lol

Modern electronics are fairly waterproof. In the Olden Days we used to clean PCBs by sticking them in a dishwasher. Sensors, batteries and connectors less so. It isn't surprising it works fine now after a fresh water 'immersion' (salt water is another thing altogether). But you are not out of the woods just yet. I would STILL try to dry it out to prevent corrosion issues.

Best way is to pop the top off (see videos) and let it air dry. The rice / random absorbent material / place under an air conditioner (which is a de humidifier) also works. What you are trying to prevent is a corroded bit failing next month or so....

I was tempted to do that but I read somewhere on here that someone dropped there one in the fresh lake and got it after 3 days later and let it dry naturally for a week or so. He still has that now 2 years on lol

I hate confessions. I'm an old fart and my judgement is a little off. First time I was looking up at a large concrete bridge as I was slowly deciding. I landed it in the river. I kept wondering why the screen on my IPad went black? I then looked up.

I went out and flew it after a firmware update. Bad video lag. It flew it into a tree and fell into the water. Hour and half I recovered it. Rebooted everything and video lag was gone.

I was flying close to the water and flew over a waterfall. Records show a big drop in elevation. Downdraft. Then it flew into a tree, it bounced off a rock and hit the water. 3 days later I fished it out from underneath the falls. At this point I don't have a battery to test it. I hooked the charger to the phantom. It lights up and does the song and dance. It then blinks red. Maybe because it doesn't have a DJI battery hooked up to it. Wifi antenna is broke. May cost more to fix then new?
