Tethered prop guards

Ive noticed in some photos, people are linked their prop guards with string or zip ties. Whats the purpose of this?

To prevent something narrow from getting between the guards and allowing the props to hit it.

Be careful if you do use string to connect the prop guards. The knot I used came loose (user error) and got caught in the propellor, causing a crash and a broken gimbal.

What I have found to work the best is larger fishing tackle swivels that have a clip on one end.
and use a large mono filament fishing line.
That way I don't have to tie knots and the clear line looks better.
