Doing my best with P2v+ camera which lacks to say the least, but love flying it! Especially FPV.
Here is some cut up video of today's flight in Aptos Ca. SeaCliff State Beach. Also home to The SS Palo Alto

Nice shooting. I thought about going over the cement boat, too, but I don't have FPV so I wasn't brave enough to try to do it by guesswork from the clifftop. Here's a video I did of the same general area, but down by the river. You can see the boat and pier in the background in a couple of shots. Did the ranger give you any trouble?

Great location! I vacation in Santa Cruz every year for the last 35 years and have never heard of this wreck! I need to get out more. Thanks for turning me on to this. I would want to fly much closer to the ship. I liked your aerial view, but I would want to fly closer and take advantage of the closeup the Phantom provides. Thanks

Some good friends of ours have a house right on Beach Dr. They usually invite us for a weekend once or twice a year. Last year was the first time I had my Phantom, so I took some shots. I'd love to get closer, but I think that takes FPV and a gimbal. I have neither. I'm just not that into it to justify spending/risking that much. My whole setup (P1, SJ1000) cost less than $600. Once it gets more than 200-300 feet from me, I really can't tell what it's shooting. I used to come here to body surf when I was a kid.

I had no clue this place existed, co-worker mentioned it to me.

I was a little concerned at first because the Rangers were driving around and I launched my bird from the parking lot not the pier. They never bothered me.

If I ever manage to fly there again. I'll be sure to launch from the pier to get closer footage. Just have to be e safe because there is a lot of birds hanging out all around the ship.
