I understand that the SRT files that the P3 creates are subtitle files, but what information exactly do they show? I'm just trying to decide whether getting software to read them is worthwhile.

Oh that's quite good then, I take it that that information is overlayed onto the video? Is there a recommended software to open these with?

Compatible video players will overlay it on the video. It's not actually on the video though -- meaning you will not see it if you upload it to YouTube. Try the default video player on your computer.
