South African Laws - Drone Flying

Hi all,

I got my new Phantom 4 and will be going to George/Knysna this coming weekend.

I don't have my license yet, what are the rules and regulations for flying in the above mentioned area?

Saw a map on www.htxt.co.za, is it safe to fly in the areas with no colour? Of course staying 50m away from buildings...

Any help??

I have flown every where in SA, only questions never problems. I have also helped SAPS and Traffic on various occasions.

The main things is ASK PERMISSION when flying over private property and fly RESPONSIBLE. Do not go and do things that you know can land you in trouble. If you think it could it most likely will.

For example, when flying at a harbor I ask permission from the harbor master. If the cops come and ask I usually say the harbour master said it is OK, Take out my SAMAA card and everybody is happy.

I have been flying for many many years in SA, way before current legislation and have not had problems yet due to the above.
