Hello all
First thread posted by me.

This is my first drone in which I am expecting delivery next week on a P3P. I have never flown anything before, so would it be better to start with the DJI Go or the Litchi? Also I see some other DJI software out there on the Apple Apps. Are any of those required or needed?
Thanks

Since this is your first time, use the GO app (you will need it to activate your account) and learn how to use the settings firstly before you venture onto another third party app. You will always need the GO app in any case due to app and firmware upgrades so probably try to keep it simple until you get some confidence up. BTW read the manual inside out, practice in beginners mode until you are ready to move on.
You don't want your next post to be 'I crashed my drone today' due to a lack of understanding or experience....

+1 on what tevek said. And don't be in any rush to upgrade any firmware. Get the bird registered and flying before you consider making any changes. Even if there have been several updates since your new bird was programmed, it should have left the factory working properly. Confirm that and get some experience with it before anything else.

You need to learn to use DJI Go and your Phantom before using any other programs.
Don't think of Litchi as a substitute for DJI Go, it's a supplement to use if you need the additional features it can provide.
DJI Go is a great program and is all you need for most flying.
Litchi is good too and is particularly good for Waypoint flying

From what I read so far gathered as much, but did not see it ever asked quite the way I asked. I appreciate the responses. I just can't wait to get it and take it out. This is a family endeavor and my little girl is as excited about this as I am.

[emoji4] you will love it. Take some time to read & learn how to set RTH (return to Home) how it works. There are some great intro videos on YouTube too. Enjoy & safe flying.

If this is your first go at flying you may want to find someone in your area to fly with and give you some pointers. You can search the forums for your town.

The Phantom is loads of fun and user friendly after you get to know it. I have been flying helis and drones for several years and found the P3 to be a whole new experience - it is now the one I fly the most. Every time I come home I have a big grin on my face.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. I have found everyone here to be super helpful.

Richardr is right don't upgrade read and read some more . I didn't realize there was a problem untill I read a post about down grading the fw been flying range isn't so good but anyway my firmware is now at 1.10.9+ plus is not supposed to be there and I don't know what to do. Be careful when you do decide to upgrade the fw.
