Seagulls chasing drones

I ride a sports bike ,but it's starting to hurt on long trips the other night it took 30 mins to get feeling back to my hands ,I need to start riding something more along the lines of what your riding but they are awesomely expensive here or real tat.

Strange that you have a bird for your avatar. Do you also chase cats' and dogs' with your car? If you really want the full animal chase experience you should go to Spain and do the running of the bulls, that should get your adrenaline flowing.

You serious ? You think you can reason with a creature like that ?

I have never dealt with Seagulls and don' believe in harassing birds but I have had a hawk swoop down on my drone here in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. I landed my drone immediately!

Unfortunately I did read the posts thoroughly ,I'm not the one quoting migratory birds law etc .I will learn not to waste my time by asking such opinionated people to at least do a little more research before acting like they know it all when quite obviously they don't .I am having a nice day thank you !and I hope you do to .

As an environmental scientist, I think that having an "opinion" is sort of part of my job. The use of the drones to control the geese is being done under careful scrutiny and does not harm any of the birds which is not what the original post was about. If you don't want a response to your posts.... don't post!

Sorry ! I want aware that you'd been commissioned to do a study on the effects of chasing or being chased by gulls by drones in the U.k. I do apologise ! Ans stand corrected.

Yea...they don't give anything away...that's for sure. But, I'm a believer in you get what you pay for. Best of luck finding the ride for you. Be safe.

I know of this migratory bird law. I thought it's more for like protecting birds with nests, saying you can't remove them.
Do migrating birds build nests as they go?

Personally, is be more than happy to look the other way as this guy flies into a gull. Poor gull, but it would be doing the rest of the world a favour if it took JetFalcon out of the sky for good.

Is it illegal to harass birds and wildlife here in the USA, either on the ground or from the air? You bet it is. Just ask a certain eccentric publicity-seeking would-be-politician in the state of Utah who, a couple of years ago, posted a video of himself kicking an airborne bird (a hawk, IIrRC) while flying his powered hang glider over some local marshland. That didn't go over so well with the authorities - the perpetrator was "encouraged" to pay a rather large fine if my memory serves me right. AND it didn't go over so well with the voters in the next election the fellow ran in, either - he got only about 10 votes for his run for governor of the state....

The odd thing is here in the UK, (and it was on the news so I will try and find a link and post it later) that we were encouraged to bring powerful water pistols to the coast to shoot at seagulls as they were causing injury to animals like Yorkshire terriers, kids and the elderly by swooping down and attacking them. I personally don't chase sea gulls but I wouldn't go near them with my drone anyway. These things have bigger muscles then me and can easily take my drone out. They could probably take me out come to think of it

Guys why do you love bashing so much !and some of you are not only rude but ignorant of the facts .
This drone prevents geese from pooping in the water
Not all authorities are against scaring wildlife .
Five species of gull commonly occur in the United Kingdom, but only 3, the Greater Black-Backed (Larus marinus), the Lesser Black-Backed (Larus fuscus) and the Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) are regarded as pests and can be removed under the General Licence.
Personally I love hearing and seeing gulls when I go to the seaside ,not so keen on the inland refuse bag raiding ones that live on the landfill sites ,and think it's bad news to scare wildlife in most circumstances however I dislike the way people forum members who without knowing all the facts ,start bashing people as if they were some sort of Authority and have never sinned themselves, treat people how you would like to be treated .
There is a difference between driving off birds that are being a hazard and chasing them down for the sport of it.

That would be a good argument to make to an intelligent adult capable of reason.

I just find it fascinating that y'all waste your time on such ridiculousness! It's cleary B.S.! Spend your time flying!

Anyone ever tried messing with birds or seagulls with the drone? I've tried with pigeons roosting on a roof and they just fly away, looks like a huge explosion of birds. Some sea birds will fly away.

But there are some seagulls who will defend their turf, usually squawk a bunch of times. It's like a different sound though, like the seagull is in distress or defense mode, not just squawking for no reason. Then it will fly and chase after the drone, which I have to put into sport mode. And the seagulls can keep up with the drone in sport mode, and I have some good footage of the birds flying after the drone.

Everyone laughs when they see the seagull chasing the drone, since I'm usually at a beach with bunch of people. It's cool to get a bird to chase the drone, but can a seagull ever attack something like a Phantom 4? Most the time they just chase it and do a big swoop over it and act like they're going to touch but never do. Seems like they're bluffing all the time like they will attack it, but most of them don't.

But if they do touch it or attack it, will the seagull get chopped by the blades or will they actually take it down? I heard on other forums that seagulls will take down smaller drones like the DJI Spark. Maybe b/c that's like if a sparrow were to pick on a fight with a seagull. While the drone is about the size of the seagull.
A-Holes like you make our hobby look bad as a whole, and should not be allowed to own drones
