A JPEG image with my P4 is 4000x3000 and around 5MB. A RAW/DNG image is 960x720 and 23MB. The RAW image captures more information hence the bigger file size but why is it smaller and presumably I'll lose detail if I want to include it in a 4K timeline as a still. Or am I missing something?

The raw file isn't 960 x 720.
The dng file has a small preview jpg inside it that is 960 x 720 and that's what your software is seeing.

A full frame raw file from that 1" sensor is 5464X3070 pixels, producing a 32.4MB file in 16:9 format.

Borrowing from a prior Meta4 post, 16:9 is not full frame.
3:2 actually is full frame, at 5472 x 3648 pixels. See below.

"3:2 Aspect Ratio: 5472 × 3648 = 20 MP
4:3 Aspect Ratio: 4864 × 3648 = 17.7 MP
16:9 Aspect Ratio: 5472 × 3078 = 16.8 MP"

"The idea that 16:9 is wider than 3:2 is an illusion.
16:9 will capture a smaller area than 3:2
The images are the SAME width
A 16:9 image is the same as the 3:2 image except that a strip 285 pixels wide has been cut off the top and bottom.
If you want the biggest possible original image and preserve your options for cropping, there is only one choice .. 3:2."
