Hey Guys I'm new to this page. But I need help I just bought a used a p3pro model number W323 with a remote model gl300A.. I been told that w323 drone compare to the w323A drone, the shell of the w323 cracks and the motors are the outdated version of the newer p3pro..
So should I sent it to DJI to have it upgrade or will it be fine to fly ???
Also I notice there are newer models of the remote such as the gl300b. I have the gl300A..
Is there any performances differences that I'm missing out because I have the gl300A??

Thanks for the help

The folks who were big on getting extreme distance considered the W323/300A combo to be the holy grail. Both of those versions have the most power output.

If you are not into pushing the distance envelope, you probably wouldnt notice a difference between the versions.

One thing I tell people when this question is asked here is that the RC battery is not easy to find. Since the 300A is oldest, the 300B or 300C has a newer battery. Just something to consider.

Here's more info in case you didnt already find it when you searched the forum.

The 300A and 300B RCs both have the same power output for the control signal. It's only the 300C version of the RC that has reduced power.

The 300A RC has the DaVinci processor and USB 2.0. B and C don't have the internal video processor, but do have USB 3.0.

Thank you for your response, I am really happy to hear that my combo gets the best range service. But have you heard anything about this model drone having cracking shell issues or engine problems ??

My take is that cracking has impacted a smaller percentage of the huge volume of Phantoms sold than is portrayed here on the forum. The forum makes it seem like 100% of Phantoms will crack. Twice. Cracking can and has occurred on all models, and even if its a minority it's still too many. Some people make themselves feel better by using reinforcement plates at the end of each arm, but their benefit is questionable. If you get unlucky and have cracking, it's easy to get a replacement shell though the change over takes a few hours. There are video tutorials for changing a shell.

As for motors - I don't have a feel for whether or not the original style or the new style have more problems. I'd guess that there is not much difference (if any) in reliability between the two.

Of course, my opinion should only be a data point for your research to help you make a decision that works for you and your needs. Cheers!

There are always lots of myths and incorrect information around on forums. Not everything you read is true.
As Oso says only a very small fraction of Phantoms ever develop cracking and it can happen to almost any model.
Yours has no particular problem with cracking.
As for the motors, DJI changed the motors during the life of the P3 series and you have the earlier type.
There was no problem that caused DJi to change motors.
Both motor types are fine. I have owned both types and they all run well.
If you want to see some info about the real technical differences, this post has details:
