Sometimes there are Class E airspaces which are extended with rectangular extensions. If the Class E is to the surface, are those extensions also to the surface?
Class E Airspace starts at 700ft AGL inside the faded magenta circle and goes all the way up to 18,000ft. Anytime you are outside the faded magenta circle, also known as the Domestic Enroute, Class E Airspace starts at 1200ft AGL and goes all the way up to 18,000ft Claiss A airspace.
It is important to note that inside the magenta circle at the surface it is Class G Airspace until you reach 700ft AGL. Once you hit 700ft you are officially in Class E Airspace. Same applies when in the Domestic Enroute area, initially at the surface it is Class G Airspace until 1,200ft AGL. At 1,200ft AGL it is officially Class E Airspace all the way up to 18,000ft Class A airspace, unless otherwise indicated in the sectional chart.
