Because of other commitments, I have not used my P4ProV2 in a couple of years. I did periodically charge the Drone batteries and the control console, but not the CrystalSky batteries. It looks like I will need to replace those batteries, because they give no indication when I press the press-to-test button, and when I try to charge them, the charging indicator turns red.

But before I buy some new ones, I am just wondering if the drone is still supported with updates that I need to fly it. I know this drone has been discontinued, and I have not done any updates to any software/firmware in a couple of years.

So, if I go through the standard setup, turn-on procedures, should I expect it to come up as usual, or any special considerations that I need to take into consideration to start using it again?

Thanks in advance for any help with this situation.

It is my understanding that DJI discontinued support of the Phantom 4 Pro and Advanced on June 1, 2025.

From DJI article...
  • End of Support: DJI has officially ended service and support for the Phantom 4 Pro and Phantom 4 Advanced models, including the V2.
  • Effective Date: The service and support suspension for these models began on June 1, 2025.
  • No More Technical Support: After this date, DJI will not offer technical support for these drones.
  • No More Maintenance: DJI will not perform maintenance or repairs on the Phantom 4 Pro or Advanced models.
  • No More Inquiries: You will not be able to contact DJI for support or inquiries related to these drones after the effective date.

As always, do NOT update firmware unless absolutely necessary to fly. Many times firmware updates cause poor results, and without DJI support,......well.....you know......🤷‍♂️

Firmware is the last thing you try. It should fly same as it did before.

@Starz ,
What do know about these batteries?
Oblivious, I have never heard of them.

I thought the P4P V2 has a '25 update that includes RID, otherwise an external RID can be used as-is. Correct me if that's wrong. The last P4P v1 firmware was back in '18 I believe, still works though.

Yeah, the last firmware update for the P4P V2 did have the update to make the P4P V2 RID compliant by itself, without an external RID module. Not sure of the firmware release date for that update without checking the DJI Firmware Release notes.

Yeah....I had to look........

The latest firmware for the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 is version v01.00.70.17, released on November 23, 2023. This update includes support for Remote ID requirements in the United States and requires updating the DJI GO 4 app to version v4.3.60. It is crucial to note that this update is not compatible with the GS Pro app.

Key Features and Notes:
  • Remote ID Support: Added support for Remote ID requirements in the United States.

  • DJI GO 4 App Compatibility: Requires updating the DJI GO 4 app to version v4.3.60 for the aircraft to function correctly.

  • GS Pro App Incompatibility: Avoid updating to this firmware if using the GS Pro app with the aircraft, as it is not compatible.

  • Restart Required: Restart the aircraft and remote controller after the update is complete.

  • RTH Altitude and Flight Distance: The update may reset settings like RTH altitude and maximum flight distance, so it's recommended to note your preferred settings and readjust them after the update.

  • No Downgrade: Once updated, the firmware cannot be reverted to a previous version.
***At least DJI is offering support for the RID requirement part of the update.***

The good news is it isn't the end of the line for the V2.0 (yet). I got confirmation from a DJI rep and found this list that shows end of support for the P4PV2.0 has not been announced but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens within the year.

So I would definitely update everything and if any batts or parts of the drone don't work, send them in now.
Best of luck!

Yep. The Phantom 4 Pro V2 is still supported by DJI for the time being. Per DJI 'Hannah' there is no date set at the present time to end support on the Phantom 4 Pro V2.

So, Phantom 4 Pro V2 owners..........time is ticking........⏰👈

send them in now.
I sent an aircraft in many weeks ago for repair. Have yet to see it returned.
They are claiming they are attempting to find a resolution to a shipping issue.
It was interesting that once the repair quote was paid, within a few days, I received the foam case, controller and props that were originally sent, minus the aircraft.
This “shipping” issue has gone on for about 2 months.
No way of knowing when and IF I will ever see it again.

Sounds like you need to rattle their cage a bit more.
