Phantom 4 pro or Inspire 1?

I would wait for the phantom 5 I have a p4s and I have $1600 saved for no specific reason I heard that it will be in the $1800 to $1900 range I am thinking about saving a little more so I can get it when it comes out.
I too am waiting in hopes it's the RTK version that has been spotted.

I considered that, but in all honesty I’m more confused than ever after today.
I can’t see needing or wanting more in a camera than the p4p.

My p3a was always supposed to be a learner craft, and it’s held strong for 2 years now, and doesn’t need replacement, since I’m just a hobby pilot.
If the mavic has a better camera, I would be getting that one, because of portability; but, I know I’ll want the photos from something like what the p4p offers.
I almost wish I could take the p4p camera and mount it to my p3a, than get a mavic. :)

I would just get the Mavic, the difference in cameras is not huge, especially if your only publishing on the internet, the P4P does have better low light capability, but during the day there is very little to choose between them. Even though technically the P4P has a better camera, I can't be bothered lugging it around anymore, a good camera can't be used if it's not with you, that is why I prefer the Mavic all the time

The differences in unedited video might not be "huge" to you, but the differences in the raw image files from the two cameras are. Personally, as a photographer, I went with the P4P simply for the camera. I wanted the portability of the Mavic, but I can't see stepping down to that camera for stills, which is why I bought my drone.

Well side by side I do see a difference.

How do they compare to the p3a camera?
Asking to see what I’m coming from to what I would be going to.
As I see it, the p4, p3a and mavic are all 12mp. Whereas the p4p is 20mp.
I know that’s simplistic, but, when it comes to camera knowledge, so am I.

Can you please expand on that?
The raw image and footage, how are they different?

RTK will not be offered in a consumer Phantom.
It's too expensive and very few need it.
It will only be an expensive specialised variant for the few users that need it and are willing to pay for it.

The P4 pro camera uses a sensor that is 4x bigger than the one in the P3 pro or Mavic.

That means it has bigger pixels which contributes to better low light performance.
The p4 pro has an aperture so users aren't forced to shoot at full aperture and get a lot more creative control.
The higher resolution means your image is bigger and can print larger without losing quality or you can crop and still have a decent image.
The camera uses a mechanical shutter for stills which gets rid of problems with moving subjects and the rolling shutter of earlier models

Thank you for explaining that.
Is there any information that could lend the possibility of a camera with similar capabilities on a "mavic II?"

I was planning to buy Phantom 4 drone for area viewing How much time phantom 4 drone can fly and take video???.

After a lot of research and lurking I'm definitely getting the Phantom 4 Pro with an emphasis of tye Plus version as I'm not interested in extra apps and such. The two controllers Inspire would possibly be my next upgrade in the future.

Having used the 5.5 inch 1000 nits screen, I'd say it's too small. I went with the normal pro and a 7.85in CS Ultra, which will also allow you to use this monitor when you upgrade to the Inspire 2 and or Credence controller. The P4 plus doesn't add much functionality, you can't upgrade it with better viewing hardware as the tablet electronics are on the main board, all a bit restrictive for a lot more money IMHO. Also the 2000 knits comes in useful on the really bright days

Honestly, I’m a simple man. Just fly it and take pictures, mostly. The occasional video of scenery; but, mostly photos. I’d like to start doing more photos and such along lake Eerie so distance and stability would be something else I’ll want.
I’ve looked into the Walkera Voyager, mavic, and yuneec h. Clearly dji still has the lead with build quality and bang for buck.

Ideally, I want something that I won’t want to upgrade from for a good while. That’s the most important thing to me. If the p3 was a p3p, and all I was going to get was obstacle avoidance and speed, I wouldn’t be looking to upgrade. Which from the looks of it takes the I1 off the list.

The one thing that does concern me about the p4 are stress cracks. I don’t hard break but I know if I had sport mode I would push the speed. [emoji4]

Sorry for the long winded post, I’m kind of just about to get back into the hobby and excited.

Lake what????

I have the P4p, the Inspire 2, and the Inspire 1 Pro (just sold the I1, but kept the camera for my osmo)

The P4P is an amazing value for what it does, and the color you get right out of the camera, is more better than the I1 with the X5. So my vote would be go for the P4P.

The ONLY jobs I needed the bigger machines for, were very cold days or VERY windy days.

I did have one battery failure on a cold windy day with a P4P where the battery got cold too fast.

So for what I DO, the P4P is the best balance of cost, and portabillity and I can capture what I need..

Hope this helps

It helps a lot, thank you!
Now I just need to finish getting the money together, sell the p3a and do some deal shopping.

The major plus doing up close fly by video with inspire is pointing the camera independent(with the finger on iPad) from drones flight path, to do the same with my p4 is tricky and not as smooth.

That is true, It does take a lot of practice to become smooth with video, - sometimes tripod mode can help.

I do most video with litchi and have been fairly successful. Albeit I'm more into trying to get still photos than anything.

Hi There, i have both, and the P4P is streets ahead. The Inspire is 3 year old tech and is still looks impressive, but tue p4p handles better. Is quicker to set up, infinitely more portable and has way better imaging capabilities.

I have a P3P, P4P, and two Inspire 2s. The P4P’s are workhorses. Easy and fast setup, excellent photos and video, go with the P4P! My advice.
