Hi everyone! A little while ago I purchased myself a faulty DJI Phantom 4 to try to repair it. I received it and it looks like it is in great condition, however when I turn it on it flashes yellow (Meaning not connecting to RC) and when I turn on my RC, it constantly beeps until I calibrated it (Every time I turn it on). When I connect the RC to my phone it gets recognized and lets me enter the app. When I try to connect it to the drone, the drone does not reply after clicking the button for linking and ends up not pairing at all. I have tried to connect the drone to my PC but it does not get recognized at all, I am using DJI Assistant 2 for Phantom but no luck there. When I connect my RC to my PC it only says: 'Device unsupported' and tells me to download the correct DJI Assistant. I feel like I have tried a lot, does anyone have experience with a fault like this? Is it a software issue or a hardware issue (And if it is, what are areas i should check?)? have not taken it apart yet (Maybe the previous owner has, idk).

Thanks in advance! Any help is appreciated and if screenshots or video's could be useful, I don't mind making those at all!

Any chance to link another remote? Hard to know if RC or P4 is the problem. Any background info from original owner?

Sadly I have purchased this a while back so I don’t know any information about this drone. Sadly I do not have another remote. The thing is that if the drone is fine it should connect to my pc right?

Is there any chance that you have the wrong remote? What is the model number of the remote?
See if you can find another P4 owner in your area, and try to link his remote to your P4 and vice-versa, as Capt KO suggested.

Hi X How did you make out? Your logic is correct. Drone should be recognized by PC. If no comm from drone then thats an issue. Never had luck with remote conn to PC.

You say no linking. you poke the light on drone and it flashes? You say remote beeps? Constantly? Which buttons you push? Sorry I'm in caveman mode. More info is needed. From both sides. There is help...we more info.

Thanks, I really appreciate the help. When I poke the link button on the drone it does not do anything, I do feel that the button itself is probably fine. I’m not able to communicate with it through the app, pc or the remote. Every single time I turn on the remote it beeps constantly until I calibrate it in the app, I also tried calibrating it using a certain combination on the remote but it has the exact same, very temporary result as calibrating it through the app.

Hi! Sadly I have not been able to fix it yet, I have not taken it apart yet but I have purchased some micro usb cables (since I don’t have the original) and tested them, all of the lights on my cable tester light up except for the light for CC (I’m not sure what that is but none of my many micro usb cables I own has it) but I wonder if the original cable does. If it doesn’t I’m pretty sure it is not the cable but I have no clue whatsoever

Ok Its a start. And you do have a clue. Not doing anything when button pressed. Don't confuse yourself. We don't know anything about drone or remote. Numbers will confirm you have the right combination of drone and remote. Other than that where are you and can you take the drone apart to replace broken board(s). If not this may be time consuming. Did you get small usb cable(three inches)? It allows other operating systems to be displayed as storage on your PC. It needs to be stuck in the drone to access. Little (usb )to (connector) to your (cable). we need more info.

Your gonna need to google some stuff. Its more than just one cable to get drone to be recognized on PC. Give us the model numbers

Okay, so the model number of the remote is: GL300C. I can’t find any specific number on the drone but it is a Phantom 4. I do have tools and experience to things apart and try to fix them but not with DJI products. I didn’t get a male micro-usb to male usb cable but I did get a male micro-usb to female usb cable (around 3 inches). I have tried connecting that to the drone and connecting a usb to usb c cable and connected that to my pc which also didn’t give any result. Which may also be useful information is that when I turn on the drone, first it flashes red, then it goes through all the other colors and eventually flash yellow with solid red lights in the back.

How did you try to pair the remote with the drone? There are several ways. Have you determined the lights flashing code? I would say unpaired.

I tried by using the app (since the remote does get detected on the app) and link through there and press the little button on the phantom and also by a certain combination of buttons on the controller, it went into linking mode but the phantom did not. The code that the lights on the phantom represent seem to be that the drone cannot link to the RC (what I found on google)

well I would say its the drone. Look for tear down videos on youtube. Take off camera gimbal. There is a couple of boards there which deal with transmitters and info. These are your suspects. On one board there is an sd card which contains black box info. this will give you info on what happened. It is not easy to get the info and involves software you can retrieve from this website. While you are looking at those boards look for discolored chips or areas looking weird. Transmitter lose means drone won't communicate or pair but would turn on.

Thank you so much, I will take it apart soon and take a look. What is the software I need to retrieve the black box info? And just to confirm, there is a sd card inside of the drone? (I didn’t know that)

Yes inside. If you find no issues you will need further help to choose the correct board to replace. But help is here. MSinger I believe is the author of the software you need.
